Our History

The story of Creekside Bible Church is a story of faith and perseverance. Our church, which was originally known as Wilsonville Baptist Church, was founded in 1985 through the combined efforts of First Baptist Church Beaverton, the Interstate Baptist Association and the North American Mission Board. These organizations combined their vision and resources to sponsor the beginning of a new church plant in, what was, a small but growing community. Through their faithful cooperative efforts, a new church was born in Wilsonville.

Reverend Sam Newell, a new work starter for the the Interstate Baptist Association, was assigned the responsibility for growing the new church. At first the new work met in homes and then, eventually, a school. Under Reverend Newell’s leadership, the small faithful fellowship invested their resources in a residence at the corner of Wilsonville Road and Brown Road. The congregation began to remodel the home and turn it into a small church building. The garage was renovated to serve as a sanctuary and various rooms of the house were used as Sunday School space. Pastor Steve Pettit served as Pastor during 1988. The ministry of Reverend Newell and Reverend Pettit bore fruit and the small congregation remained faithful to their mission in Wilsonville and the surrounding communities.

In 1989, the congregation called Reverend Dwight Huffman as Pastor. Under Reverend Huffman’s leadership, from 1989 to 1995, the building at Wilsonville Road and Brown Road was expanded. After Reverend Huffman was called to another ministry in 1995, the fellowship was practically dormant for several months. At that time, a group of five individuals continued to meet. Beaverton First Baptist asked the small fellowship to consider closing the doors of the church. However, the small group remained faithful and after seeking God’s will through prayer determined they should persevere and call another Pastor to lead the ministry in Wilsonville.

In 1995, Reverend Cliff Reynolds became the church’s new Pastor. Reverend Reynolds faithfully served as Lead Pastor for nine years. During that time the small church experienced steady growth and determined that for the ministry to continue to grow they would need to expand and search for a new location to meet. The search for an expansion site led to the acquisition of 6.7 acres at the corner of Boones Ferry and Day road, right off the North Wilsonville exit of I-5 in the city of Tualatin. The property’s location precipitated the name change from Wilsonville Baptist Church to Creekside Bible Church.

In February 2003, Creekside Bible Church moved from their long time church home at the corner of Wilsonville Road and Brown Road to Boeckman Creek Primary School. A few months later the fellowship sold the old church building. In fall of 2004, Reverend Reynolds stepped down as Lead Pastor of the church, but remained on staff for another 18 months. After Reverend Reynolds stepped down, the congregation called Pastor Greg Miller as their new Senior Pastor. Pastor Greg was called from within the church family and had been serving on the staff at Creekside Bible church since April 2000. Pastor Greg became the church’s Senior Pastor in December 2004.

Under Pastor Greg’s leadership, the faithful family at Creekside Bible Church has continued to minister to the communities of Wilsonville, Sherwood and Tualatin. The fellowship has also been preparing to build a new church home at the site in North Wilsonville by submitting grading permits and building permits. The grading permit was approved in August 2006.

In June 2008 the Creekside Church family moved their "home base" of ministry from Wilsonville to the their current location in Tualatin.  This move put the Creekside fellowship 1.5 miles and three minutes from the site of their future church home.

We look forward to seeing God work through Creekside Bible Church in the future as we continue to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength tell others about His amazing love.
